Wireless Network: ROYALSECURE

The wireless network provides a means of accessing the Internet without connecting to a port using an Ethernet cable. You must have a wireless network adapter installed in your laptop computer to use this service.

Four campus wireless networks are available:

  • ROYALGUEST: This wireless network provides a limited set of services to campus guests. Get more information about connecting to ROYALGUEST.
  • ROYALAIR: Is used to connect to ROYALSECURE or to  (such as kindle and gaming devices) to a wireless network.
  • ROYALSECURE: This is our campus-wide secured wireless network. It is accessible to students, faculty and staff.
  • EDUROAM: The 51勛圖厙 has joined eduroam, an international roaming service that provides all students, researchers, faculty and staff with secure, easy to use network/internet connectivity across member institutions. Get more information about connecting to EDUROAM.

Requirements

You must be a University student, faculty or staff to use our secure RoyalSecure wireless internet.

Everyone who wish to use the wireless network must:

  • Adhere to the 
  • Review and adhere to all 

Note: Unauthorized, open wireless devices are not permitted to maintain security. Do not attempt to configure a wireless access point in your dorm room. Periodically, buildings on campus are scanned for unauthorized wireless networks. If you are found operating a wireless access point, your network connection will be suspended.

Anyone in violation of these policies are at risk of having their university computing and network privileges revoked and/or having fines imposed.

Availability

ROYALSECURE is available to students, faculty and staff, 24 by 7 except for scheduled maintenance.

It is available in all campus indoor and outdoor areas.

Connect your Computer

You must be on our campus to connect to this network.

Step 1: Connect your computer, tablet or phone to the University's network - RoyalSecure.

Step 2: Log in with your University credentials.

Connect your Mobile Device/Tablet

Connecting an Android device:

To connect your Android device, connect directly to RoyalSecure and fill in the following settings:

  • EAP Method: PEAP
  • Phase 2: MSCHAP-V2
  • Server CA Cert: User System Certificates (this will open a domain field below)
  • Domain: scranton.edu
  • Identity: RoyalID 
  • Password: my.scranton password

Be sure to leave the anonymous identity empty. If it does not connect, you might need to forget the network (along with forgetting RoyalGuest and RoyalAir) and then reboot the device. Then try the process again.

Connecting an iOS device (iPad or iPhone):

To connect your iOS device, connect directly to RoyalSecure and fill in the following settings:

  • Username: RoyalID
  • Password: my.scranton password
  • When prompted by a pop-up in the top right of your screen, tap trust
  • Within a few seconds a checkmark will appear next to RoyalSecure

You should now be connected to the university's network.
